Energy Efficiency

Q3 Windows offer our customers the most up-to-date window and glass technology, which combine to provide our customers the most energy efficient windows avaiable today.
1. Warm Edge Technology
Up to 80% of a double glazed window’s energy loss occurs at the glass edge. Featuring warm edge technology, windows are up to 22 times more efficient at preventing heat transfer around the
perimeter. This also generates much less condensation when humidity inside the home comes
into contact with the cold window surface.
2. Glass
By specifying the right glass, you can exploit radiant heat from the sun, as well as reflecting your heat back into the house.
3. Q-Lon weather seals
Rolled in gaskets are used to retain the weather tightness of your windows. Gone are the days of ugly black rubber seals in the window sight line.
4. Multi-chamber construction
Good frames will use multi chamber technology for strength and thermal efficiency. For some A rated frames these chambers may be filled with insulation material.
5. Internal beads
This provides security as the glass is fitted from inside the frame and cannot be removed from outside.

Energy Ratings

Q3 Offer a C rated window as standard, with optional upgrades available to achieve a higher energy rating. Please see details below.
A rated windows
Specification for an A rated window:

● Optiwhite low iron glass outer glass sheet. This gives very high light transmission and increases solar gain bringing free energy from the sun into the house.
● Warm edge spacer bar between the 2 glass sheets which is 22 times more efficient at preventing heat transfer around the edges of the sealed glass unit than Aluminium.
● Argon gas filled sealed unit.
● K glass inner glass sheet. This reflects the heat inside the home back into the home .
● Outer window frame internally insulated within the multi chambers.

B rated windows
Specification for an B rated window:

● Optiwhite low iron glass outer sheet. This gives very high light transmission and increases solar gain bringing free energy from the sun into the house.
● Warm edge spacer bar between the 2 glass sheets which is 22 times more efficient at preventing heat transfer around the edges of the sealed glass unit than Aluminium.
● Argon gas filled sealed units.

● No insulation in outer frame.

C rated windows

● Aluminium spacer bar.
● Argon filled sealed units.
● K glass inner glass sheet.
● No insulation in outer frame.
